Infa Riot

Infa Riot is an oi and punk group from Wood Green, London, formed in 1980 by vocalist Lee Wilson and guitarist Barry D'Amery. The group is also known for the name Infa-Riot, which is an abbreviation of “In for a Riot”.

Early activity and recordings

The band plays its first gig as support to Angelic Upstarts at the Lordship Pub in Wood Green. Its fourth performance is reviewed in Sounds by Thomas “Mensi” Mensforth of Angelic Upstarts. Two tracks by Infa Riot appear on the compilation Strength Through Oi! in May 1981, and “Each Dawn I Die” appears on Carry on Oi later that year.

Singles and albums

Infa Riot releases its first single, “Kids of the '80's”, in September 1981. The single reaches number 2 on the UK Indie Chart in February 1982. “The Winner” follows in May 1982, and the debut album Still Out of Order appears in August the same year. That album spends four weeks in the UK Albums Chart and reaches number 42.

Name change and later work

In 1984 the group changes its name to The Infas and releases its second album, Sound & Fury. The Infas play their last gig in November 1985, and the performance is recorded and issued in 1988 in Link Records’ Live and Loud!! series. The band reforms in 2011 and releases Old & Angry in 2017.
