Incassum
Incassum is a melodic death metal band from Manchester, England, formed at Salford University in September 2004. The band is known for combining progressive and technical elements with aggressive female vocals.
Early years
After forming, Incassum writes and records its first demo quickly and begins playing on the live circuit in Manchester. In early 2005 it plays across the Northwest and also travels to Edinburgh, before focusing on writing and consolidating its sound.
Recordings and line-up changes
The band records another demo in mid-2006 with Mike Pilate, who has also worked with Malefic, Collusion and The Ocean. Around this time original guitarist Jim Knights leaves amicably; he later plays with Wakefield death metal band Nailed. Chris Taylor, described as a friend and fan of the band, replaces him.
Live activity and debut EP
In 2007 Incassum plays at Manchester Academy 3 alongside acts including i-def-i, Nailed, I Remain and Blood Vigil, as well as at other dates around the Northwest. The band enters MCC Studios in February and March 2008 with producer Andy Giblin, whose credits include Kill II This, i-def-i, Nailed, Profane, Slipknot and Napalm Death, to record its debut EP.
Context
By the time the band graduates in May 2008, it is looking to play further afield and build on the release of its EP.
