I, The Lion

I, The Lion are a post-punk trio from Cheltenham, active since 2011. The group has three members and works within alternative rock and rock, with a sound built around heavy progressive bass lines, twisting guitar riffs, hard-hitting drums and melodic, harmonious vocals.

Live activity

Since forming, the band develops a reputation for energetic live performances and a large sound. They tour the UK repeatedly and play widely on the live circuit. They also share stages with Gallows, DZ Deathrays, Three Trapped Tigers, Talons and Emp!re.

Recordings

The band’s first single passes 1,000 downloads in its first month, shortly after formation, and becomes known in the local rock scene through regular gigging and promotion. Their follow-up EP, Tides and Tales, includes an opening track that becomes a regular favourite with audiences. In 2014 they release the single Hold Strong, which they debut at 2000 Trees Festival and distribute free of charge, with all 200 copies taken in under 30 seconds.

Run and later work

In 2015 the band releases the four-track EP Run. It is recorded at Stakeout Studios in London with Jason Wilson, who has worked with You Me At Six, Reuben and Fightstar. The EP receives positive attention and critical praise.
