Hyphen is a British rapper and DJ who works across grime, hip hop, indie pop, jungle, punk and punk rap. He is active in the United Kingdom and also has strong links to South Africa’s drum and bass scene.

Career

Hyphen is known for tight track selection and for mixing drum and bass across its wider spectrum. His sets place him alongside artists including Counterstrike, Dieselboy, Pendulum, Break, Donny, Raiden, Robyn Kaos, Eye-D, The Mixologists, Pascal, Nymfo and Temper D.

He hosts a Tuesday night drum and bass show on Bush Radio in Cape Town, broadcast on Bush Radio 89.5FM. He appears live at 22:00 every Tuesday.

He is also a resident DJ at Homegrown, described as South Africa’s biggest drum and bass monthly party. He sometimes plays dubstep sets there as well. Homegrown is described as the longest-running and biggest drum and bass night in South Africa and takes place on the first Saturday of each month.

Releases

Hyphen releases his first vinyl pressing with SFR in 2010. The track “Visions”, pressed on Zombie Recordings, makes him one of a small number of South African drum and bass artists to have done this.
