Hymns

Hymns is a group based in Brooklyn, United States, active from 2005 to the present. It is described as an indie folk rock band, and its genres are listed as acid house, alternative pop, breakbeat, dub techno, lo-fi house and minimal techno.

The name also refers to several different acts in the input, including an alternative rock band formed in London in 2016, an indie rock band based in Brooklyn, and a black metal band from Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Brooklyn-based indie rock incarnation begins with North Carolina musicians Brian Harding, who sings and plays guitar, and Jason Roberts, who plays guitar and Wurlitzer. After moving to New York City, they add Tony Kent on drums and Matt Shaw on bass guitar.

That version releases the album Brother/Sister as a debut and later follows it with Travel in Herds. It also appears alongside artists such as Ben Kweller, Hot Hot Heat, Beck and the Sam Roberts Band, and is named by Spin Magazine as one of the artists to watch in 2008. Another HYMNS line-up records The London EP live at Smokehouse Studios in London, with songs focused on isolation, desperation and hope in city life. The black metal group is signed to Housecore Records.
