Hundredth

Hundredth is an American group from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It forms in 2008 and is active from 2009 to the present. The band begins as a melodic hardcore act and later moves into shoegaze, with its style also associated with dream pop, indie pop, post-hardcore and rock.

Line-up

The group includes Andrew Minervini and Blake Hardman. Earlier in its history it also includes Chadwick Johnson and Alex Blackwell IV.

Releases and development

Hundredth releases its debut album, When Will We Surrender, through Mediaskare Records in 2010. Its second album, Let Go, follows in 2011, also on Mediaskare Records, and its first single from that record is “Live Today”.

The band issues the EPs Revolt and Resist through Mediaskare and No Sleep Records across 2013 and 2014. In 2017 it records RARE at The Panda Studios with producer Sam Pura and releases it on Hopeless Records. That album marks a major stylistic change away from its earlier melodic hardcore sound and towards dreamy, shoegaze-influenced indie rock. RARE is named among Stereogum’s top 50 albums of 2017 and is also described by Alternative Press in positive terms.

Later work

Hundredth announces the studio album Somewhere Nowhere in 2020. The album is self-released, and its first single is “Bottle It Up”.
