Hundred Reasons

Hundred Reasons are a British rock band from Aldershot, United Kingdom, formed in 1999. The group’s line-up includes Colin Doran, Larry Hibbitt, Andy Bews, Andy Gilmour and Paul Townsend. Their sound is associated with rock, indie, post-hardcore, alternative rock and emo.

Career

After around fourteen months of near-continuous touring, Hundred Reasons sign to Columbia Records in mid-April 2001. Their debut album, Ideas Above Our Station, reaches number 6 on the UK album chart, produces several Top 40 singles and is later certified gold in the UK. The band then tours widely across Europe and Japan.

Their second album, Shatterproof Is Not A Challenge, sells 35,000 copies, but the band is dropped by Sony BMG in June 2004. They later sign to V2 Records in September 2005. Their third album, Kill Your Own, is produced by guitarist Larry Hibbitt and is released in 2006, reaching critical acclaim and sales of 30,000 copies.

Later releases

Paul Townsend announces his departure from the band in August 2006 after the Japan tour, and Ben Doyle of The Lucky Nine joins as guitarist. Hundred Reasons’ fourth album, Quick the Word, Sharp the Action, appears in 2007. After V2 is bought by Universal, the album is removed from shops and no further singles are issued from it. It is later re-released in 2009, alongside touring tied to the release.
