Hotwired

Hotwired are a punk group from North Walsham, Norfolk, formed in 1999. The band is female-fronted and is described as a hard-working five-piece act with a sound rooted in 1980s punk rock, using shouted lyrics and sing-along choruses. Their style sits within punk and street punk, and they are associated with the UK punk scene.

Line-up

At the time described, Hotwired comprise Emma on vocals, Sir Paul Hotwired on guitar, Steve from Contempt on guitar, Si on bass, and Salty on drums. The group is also linked with several other members and former members, including Becky Beauchamp, Dale Beauchamp, Groundsheet, Simon Sadler, Andy, Smeg, Tom Browning, Sam Aghabi, Dave Donley, Steve Contempt, Steve Sales and Dandelion Florence.

Activity and releases

The band begins with bassist Si, who forms Hotwired in 1999 with Paul and helps build the group over time. Hotwired tour widely in the UK and also play in Romania, Bulgaria and Spain. They appear on several compilations, including two Brown Bag Propaganda releases, and issue The Bullshitter EP through their own website. The band also work on new material for an album planned after that period.

Live work

Hotwired are confirmed for the Rebellion Punk Festival in 2011 and are part of the wider circuit of punk gigs and tours that support the group’s profile.
