Hornsman Coyote
Hornsman Coyote is a reggae, dub and ragga musician from Belgrade, Serbia, born in 1975. He comes from a family with an artistic background and has been active on the Serbian scene from a young age.
Eyesburn and early career
In 1994, he forms Eyesburn, a crossover band that tours across Europe and releases seven albums in Serbia. In 2004, Eyesburn works with Max Cavalera of Soulfly on the single “Moses”, followed by a European tour supporting Soulfly. The collaboration continues on Soulfly’s album Dark Ages with the song “Inner Spirit”, and Coyote appears as a special guest on the Dark Ages European tour.
Solo work and reggae recordings
After touring with Soulfly, he continues as a freelance solo artist. With a long-standing interest in reggae and roots culture, he moves to London with the aim of playing trombone in a roots reggae style. Jerry Lions is the first producer to give him an opportunity, after which he records for producers including Ras Muffet, Jah Works, Repentance Music, Paco Ten and Kris Naphtali.
He releases three 12-inch records: Warning, Sign of the Times on Repentance Music, Warrior Horns on Jah Works, and Father Judge on Roots Injection. He also records instrumental albums including Brass Roots with Jah Works and another album with Ras Muffet.
Singing, collaborations and Poland
Alongside trombone playing, he develops a singing career. This leads to the album What Next?, compiled by producers including Neil Perch of Abassi and Zion Train, WikluhSky, Mc Milovan and Fat_Z, and released in Poland by Karrot Kommando. The first single from the album is “Glow Jah Light”.
He becomes known to Polish audiences through work with the ragamuffin group Vavamuffin. On their album Innadibusu, he composes and performs the intro and outro. He also performs in Poland with Joint Venture Sound System and Ghetto Priest, and appears at the reggae festivals in Bielawa and Ostróda.
Later projects
A project called Survival Unit is planned with Ghetto Priest and Wikluhsky of Bad Copy. The first result of that collaboration is the Ghetto Priest album Mental Desert Project.
