Honningbarna
Honningbarna are a Norwegian hardcore punk and punk rock group from Kristiansand. They perform lyrics in the local Kristiansand dialect, which gives their songs a strong regional identity. The band begins in 2010 and remains active.
Early releases and recognition
Honningbarna debut with the EP Honningbarna in 2010. In January 2011, they win Årets Urørt, a fresh-music competition run by NRK P3, with the song “Borgerskapets utakknemlige sønner” (“Ungrateful sons of the bourgeoisie”). Their first album, La alarmane gå (“Sound the alarms”), follows in 2011 and wins the rock category at Spellemannprisen 2011, where the band also receives a Newcomer nomination.
Live work and later history
In 2011, Honningbarna perform at Øyafestivalen and appear live on NRK TV as part of the 2011 election campaign coverage. The band’s drummer, Anders Eikås, dies in a car accident on 31 January 2012.
