Hobo

Hobo is the performing name of Földes László, a Hungarian singer, songwriter and actor born in 1945. He performs solo from at least 1986 and remains associated with Hobo Blues Band, which he forms in 1978.

Career

He writes songs from 1968. His solo work begins in 1986, when he translates Allen Ginsberg’s Howl into Hungarian and sets it to music. Alongside his work with Hobo Blues Band, he develops a long solo catalogue of around sixteen albums.

Much of that solo discography consists of poems translated into Hungarian and performed as songs. The writers represented include Allen Ginsberg, Jim Morrison and Vladimir Vysotsky. He also records several blues albums.
