Hell Puppets
Hell Puppets are a UK horror punk group formed in late summer 2011. The band begins as a five-piece, drawing on punk rock, metal and hard rock influences, and it develops a style shaped by White Zombie, Pantera and the Misfits. Its image and subject matter centre on horror, occult themes and demonism, giving the group a dark humour and a morbid outlook.
Early years and first recordings
After forming, the band spends about a year rehearsing before playing its first local show at The Chichester Inn. In 2012 it records a live session for a local radio station, which airs six tracks of original material. During 2013 the band continues to perform and write while also entering the studio to record its debut EP, No Strings Attached.
Debut EP
No Strings Attached is released in January 2014. The band’s work at this stage is marked by extreme language, Satanic references, and confrontational imagery and opinions, which forms part of its controversial public identity.
