HeKz
HeKz are a UK metal band from the United Kingdom, formed in 2003 by school friends. The group’s current line-up forms in September 2008, when founder member Matt Young takes lead vocals and bass guitar, and his brother Danny Young plays guitar, alongside Kirk Brandham on drums and Alastair Beveridge on guitar. Brandham replaces Nik Bryant, while Beveridge replaces Adam Billington.
Early releases and line-up changes
The band records the Orfeo EP in late 2008 before the new line-up has played a live show together. The EP is released in physical and digital formats in March 2009 and receives strong critical attention in print and online. In January 2009, Kirk Brandham becomes ill and does not return to active playing until September that year.
Live work and touring
In 2010, HeKz begin to expand beyond their local scene with self-financed UK tours and a number of summer festival appearances, including Bloodstock Open Air’s 10th anniversary event. They then follow this with another UK tour in September 2010.
Recorded plans
The band is working towards its debut album, planned for release on Metal Dwarf Music. Their style is associated with power metal, heavy metal and progressive metal.
