H.E.A.T
H.E.A.T is a Swedish hard rock band from Upplands Väsby, active since 2007. The group forms from the merger of the local bands Dream and Trading Fate, and it is also known simply as Heat. Its lineup includes Kenny Leckremo, Dave Dalone, Eric Rivers, Crash, Jimmy Jay, Jona Tee and Erik Grönwall, with Leckremo and Grönwall both serving as lead singers at different points in the band’s history.
Style and early recognition
The band’s sound sits in melodic hard rock, with influences drawn from arena rock, classic metal and power pop from the 1970s and 1980s. H.E.A.T’s first album, H.E.A.T, appears in 2008, following formation the year before. The group gains early exposure as an opening act for Toto, then later for Alice Cooper, Sabaton and Edguy. It also appears at Sweden Rock Festival and at Melodifestivalen 2009, where it reaches the final with the song “1000 Miles”.
The band receives the Årets Nykomlingar award from Swedish radio station P4 Dist, as voted for by listeners.
Line-up changes and later releases
In mid-2010 Kenny Leckremo leaves the band, and Erik Grönwall joins as frontman after winning Swedish Idol in 2009 with performances of songs by acts such as Iron Maiden and Skid Row. H.E.A.T then releases Freedom Rock in 2010, followed by Address the Nation in 2012 and Tearing Down the Walls in 2014. These albums help establish the band internationally.
In 2016 guitarist Eric Rivers departs, and Dave Dalone returns to the group. H.E.A.T later issues Into the Great Unknown in 2017, described as the third album featuring Grönwall on vocals. The band then releases H.E.A.T II in 2020, returning to a heavier sound, and Force Majeure in 2022. Kenny Leckremo rejoins in 2020, replacing Grönwall, and the current studio album is Welcome To The Future.
