Hayseed Dixie
Hayseed Dixie is a bluegrass and country group from Nashville, United States, active from 2000. The band is known for “rockgrass”, a style built around bluegrass arrangements of rock songs, and also performs original material.
Line-up
The group includes Barley Scotch on lead vocals, fiddle and guitar; the Reverend Don-Wayne Reno on banjo; Deacon Dale Reno on mandolin and guitar; and Jake “Bakesnake” Byers on acoustic bass. The verified line-up also includes Tim Carter and Hippy Joe Hymas.
Material and recordings
Hayseed Dixie records cover versions of songs by artists including Kiss, Outkast, Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith, alongside its own songs. Live favourites mentioned include “Moonshiner’s Daughter”, “Kirby Hill” and “Blind Beggar Breakdown”. The group has released nine albums, with Killer Grass noted as one of them, and it also issues a live DVD, No Sleep ’til Liverpool.

Brothers Dale Reno and Don-Wayne Reno are the sons of bluegrass musician Don Reno, who wrote songs including “Dueling Banjos”. The group also plays live and has performed at a house-warming party for AC/DC bass player Cliff Williams.
