Harvest
Harvest is a Christian music group from Lindale, United States. It is active from 1977 to 1995 and is led by Jerry Williams, with Paul Wilbur and Ed Kerr as the original line-up. The group forms in 1977 in Lindale, Texas, and Williams, who founds the band, works with Wilbur and Kerr on the first two Harvest albums, Harvest and Morning Sun. Wilbur and Williams meet through a church connection, where Williams serves as youth pastor, and Kerr joins as a mutual friend of both men.
Career
Wilbur leaves in 1981, after which Harvest continues as a duo of Williams and Kerr. The pair records a run of releases including It's Alright Now, Send Us to the World, Voices, Only the Overcomers, Give Them Back, Holy Fire, and Carry On. In 1982, CCM features the duo and praises the group's vocal harmonies, highlighting the song Because I Am from It's Alright Now. By 1988, the Discovery Broadcasting Network records Harvest in concert and describes the band as averaging over 100 concerts a year.
Later line-up and touring
Kerr leaves in 1991, and Harvest continues as a five-player band led by Williams. With changing personnel, the group records Let's Fight (For a Generation), Mighty River, and 41 Will Come. In 1992, Harvest undertakes an Olympic and European tour that includes performances in Spain at the Barcelona Summer Olympics and the Sevilla World Expo, as well as dates in Germany as part of Operation Mobilisation's "Love Europe" crusade, before ending the tour in Holland.
Musical identity and legacy
Harvest is identified as contemporary Christian music rather than the other acts with the same name. It is also described as a CCM band, with a stated vision of seeing 100 million people come to know Jesus Christ through the band's music ministry.
