Hannah Diamond
Hannah Diamond is an English singer, songwriter, photographer and visual artist from Norwich and based in London. Born in 1991, she works within hyperpop and related PC Music-associated electronic pop, and her music and visual work often uses a hyperreal, highly produced cuteness set against sincerity.
Career
Diamond’s music career begins in 2012, when she meets GFOTY through a mutual friend. GFOTY introduces her to A. G. Cook, who becomes an important collaborator and a central figure in the PC Music label. Their first work together starts after a scheduled vocalist fails to appear for a recording session, and in the same year Diamond and Cook work on her first solo song, “Attachment”.
Her debut single is “Pink and Blue”, released in October 2013. The track establishes her synthetic, lullaby-like style and helps draw attention to both her music and the emerging PC Music label. In January 2014, she appears on A. G. Cook’s “Keri Baby”. She makes her live debut in April 2014 at Basement in London, and later that month releases “Attachment” as her second single. The song is a melancholic ballad about modern relationships, with high-pitched melody and layered harmonies.
Her third solo single, “Every Night”, arrives in November 2014. It focuses on desire and shows a more assertive side of her writing. The track gains substantial attention on SoundCloud and becomes her first song to enter a Billboard chart, reaching number 28 on the Emerging Artists chart. In March 2015, she performs at the PC Music showcase at SXSW in Austin, Texas, and later appears at a PC Music show in Brooklyn, New York.
Releases and collaborations
Diamond releases “Hi” in November 2015, with a music video made in collaboration with i-D magazine. She describes it as a bridge between her earlier material and a next phase. In February 2016, she collaborates with Charli XCX on “Paradise”. Later that year, she releases “Fade Away” through PC Music, followed by the free single “Make Believe” in December 2016, produced by easyFun and A. G. Cook.
In December 2017, she releases a new mix, “Soon I won’t see you at all”, which includes three new tracks, among them a cover of Gareth Emery’s “Concrete Angel”. In November 2018, she releases “True”. In 2019, she issues “Part of Me” with Danny L Harle, then “Invisible” and “Love Goes On”, both with videos.
Albums and later work
Diamond’s debut studio album, Reflections, is released in November 2019, after a full-length project had originally been planned for 2015. She begins The Invisible Tour in December 2019. In 2020, she appears on a remix of 100 gecs’ “xXXi_wud_nvrstøp_ÜXXx” with Tommy Cash, and also features on A. G. Cook’s albums 7G and Apple.
She appears on Danny L Harle’s “Boing Beat” in 2021, from Harlecore, and joins A. G. Cook and Sarah Bonito on a remix of “The Darkness”. She also appears on Namasenda’s debut mixtape Unlimited Ammo and designs much of its artwork. In 2022 she releases “Staring at the Ceiling”.
In 2023, Diamond releases “Affirmations”, “Perfect Picture” and “Poster Girl”, with Perfect Picture announced as her second studio album. Her work continues to sit within the PC Music orbit, combining pop melody, synthetic production and a highly styled visual identity.
