Hangman's Chair

Hangman's Chair are a Paris, France-based group active since 2005. They play doom metal, doomgaze, metal, sludge metal and stoner metal, and their earlier description also places them in southern metal. The band forms from former Es La Guerilla members.

History

Hangman's Chair begin with members who previously play in Es La Guerilla. In 2007 they release a split CD with Eibon, followed later that year by their first album, (A Lament For...) The Addicts. Their second album, Leaving Paris, appears in 2010.

In 2008 the line-up changes, with Keo on vocals and Renart on bass being replaced by the singer from Inhatred and a bass player from L'Esprit du Clan. That bassist has also previously play in Knockoutz alongside members of Es La Guerilla and Hangman's Chair.

Other projects and connections

Members of the group also play with Arkangel, Hellbats and Third Arm. The drummer later joins the French doom metal band Rising Dust. Renart is also associated with Every Reason To... and Fate.
