Hamish

Hamish is an Australian progressive house duo from Melbourne, made up of Hamish Cowan and Bryan St James. The group is active from 2000 to 2004 and combines electronic pop, house and rock elements.

Background

Hamish Cowan is previously the voice of Melbourne band Cordrazine, which is remembered for the 1997 ballad “Crazy”. He joins producer and composer Bryan St James in 2001 to form Hamish, and the pair create electronic pop built around emotive production and Cowan’s vocals.

Releases and work

The first Hamish release is an electronic version of U2’s “With or Without You”, issued for the soundtrack of the film Looking For Alibrandi. The duo’s debut album, Homesick, includes “Life Song”, released as the first single, and “4 Your Love”, the second single. The album also includes tracks described as the “murder song” and the “destiny song”.
