Guigoo is a French producer of hardtek, raggatek and Frenchcore, active since 1998. He is a member of the hardtek group Fant4stik and the Narkotek sound system.
Career
Guigoo joins Narkotek Sound System in 2000 and helps organise free parties in the Paris region. He begins by producing hardtek and tribe on his first machines, and also plays live sets and DJ sets.
After training as a sound engineer in 2002, he launches an electronic music production and distribution company through his undergroundtekno.com website. The platform brings together artists associated with the hardtek and raggatek scene, including Vandal, Billx, Floxytek, Darktek and Mat Weasel.
Music and releases
He releases hardtek and raggatek EPs and albums on vinyl, CD and in digital formats on undergroundtekno sub-labels including Narkotek, Access Violation, Sonik Boom and Raggatek Power.
Guigoo plays and composes all instrumental parts in his tracks. His hardtek style combines heavy kicks with dark, melancholic melodies, while his raggatek style uses vocal parts, synthesizers and rhythms around 190-200 BPM. He also integrates instruments he plays himself, including piano and scratches.
Collaborations and side projects
In 2014, Mat Weasel, Guigoo, Floxytek and Billx form Fant4stik, a hardtek, EDM and Frenchcore project in which Guigoo plays keytar live.
He also starts a raggatek project called Catch Me If You Can, which combines reggae-ragga, drum and bass and hardtek.
