Graveyard

Graveyard are a Swedish rock band from Gothenburg, formed in 2006. Their music is associated with hard rock, blues rock, psychedelic rock and stoner rock.

Formation and early years

The band is formed by Joakim Nilsson, Rikard Edlund, Axel Sjöberg and Truls Mörck. Nilsson and Edlund previously play in Norrsken, while Nilsson, Edlund and Sjöberg also play together in Albatros, a blues rock group. After Albatros ends, they return to a more direct rock sound and begin working under the name Graveyard.

At the start, the group records a two-track demo, plays a small number of shows and begins planning a debut album with Swedish label Transubstans Records. They also post demo material online, which leads to attention from TeePee Records.

Debut album and line-up change

The self-titled debut album is recorded by Don Ahlsterberg and released in 2008. After the recording sessions, Truls Mörck leaves and Jonatan Ramm joins on guitar. The debut receives generally positive reviews.

Touring and later work

Graveyard perform at South by Southwest in 2008 and are noted for their first US appearance there. They then tour with Witch, Witchcraft and Clutch, and later with CKY in 2009.

The band releases a second album in 2011. Graveyard remain active from 2006 onwards and continue as a Swedish rock group.
