Golden Fable

Golden Fable are a Welsh three-piece band from the United Kingdom, active since 2011. The group consists of Rebecca Joy, Tim Joy and Jonathan Guy. Rebecca Joy provides the lead vocals, while Tim Joy and Jonathan Guy play multiple instruments and build the band’s layered arrangements.

Sound and background

The band is based in north Wales and draws inspiration from the natural world and the landscapes around them. Their music has an ethereal, expansive character, and one description of their sound calls it “nothing short of inspirational”.

Releases and collaboration

Golden Fable release music through their own label, Full of Joy Records. They have released three albums and later begin work on a larger project with the NEW Sinfonia ensemble. That collaboration involves new material written with orchestral arrangements by Jon Guy and combines guitars, bass and drums with harps, a string quartet and clarinets. The result is an eleven-member live project that brings together contemporary and classical elements.

Live activity

The group builds a live reputation with performances across the UK. They receive praise from Guy Garvey, BBC 6Music and Green Man Festival, and they tour with Field Music, Public Service Broadcasting and Cherry Ghost. Their festival appearances include SXSW, End of the Road Festival, Dot to Dot and The Great Escape Festival.
