Gold Of My Own

Gold Of My Own is a collaboration between Vanessa Freeman and Chris Pedley. The project begins more than 15 years before the release of its debut album, when the two artists work together on a set of songs that is then set aside as their careers move in different directions. The material is later revived and mastered for the album Mondo Romance.

Vanessa Freeman

Freeman works as a performer and recording artist in nu-jazz and broken beat. She appears on releases and projects with Mr Scruff, Azymuth and Herbie Hancock, and also works with Reel People, The Baker Brothers and Kyoto Jazz Massive, which takes her on tours internationally.

Chris Pedley

Pedley founds The Baker Brothers, a funk group active on the funk and soul scene. His production credits include work connected to Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, a release on Ubiquity Records, and material from much of The Baker Brothers’ back catalogue.

Mondo Romance

Mondo Romance is Gold Of My Own’s debut album and is issued on Fish Legs Records. The first single, “Breathless”, combines jazz rhythms, dance beats and a Brazilian-style bell pattern, with vocals, guitar and drums forming the core of the arrangement.
