Gnaw Their Tongues is the project of Maurice de Jong, based in Drachten, Netherlands, and active from 2005. It works across experimental drone, noise, black metal, industrial and related extreme forms, and is also described as avant-garde metal, black ambient and power electronics. The project is issued on Candlelight Records.

Background

The name comes from a biblical verse. Before starting Gnaw Their Tongues, Maurice de Jong performs in Ophiuchus, although only a few tracks appear under that name and no further releases follow it.

Themes and appearances

The lyrics deal with bondage, torture and morbid esoterica. Tracks by Gnaw Their Tongues appear on several compilations, including Black Industrial Grimoire, Mind the Gap Volume 77, Oaken Throne 6 and The Static Hymnal.
