Ginger

Ginger is the name used by several acts, including a German vocalist whose listed genres are minimal techno and techno. The name is also associated with a number of rock and hardcore projects, as well as solo and band releases by Ginger Wildheart.

Ginger Wildheart

Ginger Wildheart, born David Leslie Walls, is the lead singer and main creative figure behind The Wildhearts. Kerrang! magazine describes him as “the finest English songwriter of his generation”. As a solo artist, he releases three solo studio albums: Valor Del Corazón, Yoni and Market Harbour. Before those albums, he writes and issues a series of monthly singles in 2003, later collected on A Break in The Weather. His other releases include the live acoustic albums Grievous Acoustic Behaviour: Live At 12 Bar, Potatoes & You, The Great White Monkey and Kiss Alive II, and the album The Pessimist's Companion.

Other artists using the name Ginger

The name is also used by a Canadian band formed by the three remaining members of The Grapes of Wrath after Kevin Kane leaves the group. That band releases a self-titled EP and two albums, Far Out and Suddenly I Came To My Senses, before The Grapes of Wrath reform.

Another Ginger is a Swiss psychedelic blues-rock band founded in 2007 and also known as the Ginger Jamband. Their music combines blues, funk and rock with 1960s psychedelia, and has been described as built around tight riffs, crisp beats and wailing guitars.

A French melodic hardcore band called Ginger releases its debut LP, Dark Page Chronicles, in 2010. Their style is compared with bands such as A Wilhelm Scream and Strung Out.

Other uses of the name include an early-1980s pop/rock band led by Trevor Spencer, which has a minor chart hit in the Netherlands with “Blind Date”; a Dutch rapper from Amersfoort named Jorn Wildeman, who appears on The Voice of Holland and later releases the albums As Told By Ginger and Het Moest Zo Zijn; a Greek meme artist stylised as GiNger, who makes trap and releases Music so BAD I Went to Jail; and an EDM artist based on SoundCloud who uses Ginger from Talking Tom and Friends as a persona.
