Gentle Mystics

Gentle Mystics are a folk, dub, Gypsy, balkan and hip hop group formed in 2007. The line-up includes Elian Gray and Cosmo Sheldrake. The group develops a wide-ranging sound from a combination of instruments and influences, and its music is associated with an improvised, unsettled character.

Recording and release

The group records material in Elian Gray’s small home studio, with additional recording taking place at SARM Studios. Its album is mixed by Brendon “Octave” Harding, who works with Adrian Sherwood’s On-U Sound label.

Live activity

Gentle Mystics have performed at Secret Garden, Passing Clouds, Au Fond Du Jardin Du Michel, Sometimes, Cellar Door Vaudeville, Cargo and in various warehouse spaces. The group also has a history of staging events in the UK and elsewhere.
