Geno Washington & The Ram Jam Band are a soul group from London, United Kingdom. Active from 1965, the group centres on Geno Washington, with Steve Bingham and Ram John Holder also listed as members.

History

The Ram Jam Band forms around 1964, developing out of a group called Les Blues. Before working with Geno Washington, the band backs the British blues singer Errol Dixon. Their first single with Dixon is "Shake, Shake, Senora" / "Akinla", released on Columbia, but it does not gain attention.

Washington is a U.S. airman stationed in East Anglia who becomes known for impromptu performances in London nightclubs. In 1965, guitarist Pete Gage needs a singer for his new band and asks Washington to replace Dixon. Washington then joins as frontman after being discharged from the U.S. Air Force.

The band breaks up in autumn 1969, after which the members go their separate ways. Geno Washington continues as a solo artist before returning to the United States.
