Gavin is a name used by three different acts. One is the Australian artist Gavin Turek, a singer, dancer and actor who also works as a spokesperson for Rimmel London. She begins singing at a young age and writes her first song at six. Her live performances draw on dance training and on time spent learning traditional dances and culture from Ghana and India, which she incorporates into her shows. Her music is described as drawing on indie, pop and electronica, and she plans to release material through Sonata Cantata Records, a Los Angeles label started by former EVE 6 and Monsters Are Waiting guitarist Jon Siebels. Her releases include a laptop remix project built around favourite Ratatat songs, and the single Ring It.
Another Gavin is a three-piece post-grunge band from Reigate, Surrey, formed in the late months of 2011. The line-up is Nathan “NAC” Clark on guitar and vocals, Phill “Fil” Marks on bass, and Andy “NRG” Davies on drums. The band records two songs, two versions of Where Is My Love?, and a cover of Scissor Sisters’ Laura, which the singer renames Lawra.
The third Gavin is a lo-fi producer from Toronto, Ontario, associated with soundcloud.com/rottenspeller.
