Gavin James is a singer-songwriter from Dublin, Ireland. Born Gavin Wigglesworth in 1991, he records and performs in pop and singer-songwriter styles and is associated with the label AllPoints.

Career

James wins the Choice Music Prize Irish Song of the Year in March 2013 and again in March 2016. His debut EP, Say Hello, remains on the Irish chart for more than six months and helps establish him in his home market. He goes on to play sell-out headline dates and support tours with artists including Lianne La Havas, Beth Orton, Kodaline and Marina & The Diamonds.

Recordings

Live at Whelans presents a stripped-back hometown performance, drawing on both new and older songs. The track “Nervous” appears on it and focuses on the shift from first attraction to the realisation that a relationship is one-sided.

His debut album, Bitter Pill, reaches the Top 5 in Ireland, is certified Platinum there, and is part of the period in which he receives further recognition for his songwriting.

Live appearances and reach

James performs at venues and on tours in Ireland, the UK, Europe, the US and Australia. He also appears on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Jimmy Kimmel Live, BBC One, and C’est À Vous. His streaming total on Spotify passes 150 million.
