Gate Flowers is a South Korean indie rock group formed in 2005. The group begins with 박근홍 on vocals, 염승식 on guitar and 양종은 on drums, who are drawn together through shared interest in each other’s performances and in the sound of Seattle grunge rock and progressive rock. After an early period of activity, the group disbands, then reforms in 2008.

유재인, who plays bass in 이장혁밴드, later joins and completes the four-piece line-up with 박근홍, 양종은 and 염승식. The group’s debut EP appears in 2010 and contains six songs, but each track is placed alongside a jam session that shows how the material is developed, so the release effectively contains 12 pieces of audio.

Gate Flowers receives recognition at the 8th Korea Popular Music Awards, where it is named New Artist of the Year and also wins Best Rock Song for “예비역”. The group remains active from South Korea.
