Funkanomics

Funkanomics is a German electronic group formed in 2006 by Proof, FxFarmer and Bobby Kudlicz. The project comes from the far south of Germany, near Lake Constance, and it remains active.

Style and sound

The group works with a blend of hard, tightly structured electronic music and funk-driven rhythm. Their productions emphasise strong basslines and heavy grooves, and their live sets focus on breakbeat with influences from hip hop, funk, dopes beats, reggae and electro. Their listed tags also include sampling and funky breaks.

Performance and production

Funkanomics perform their own productions live from the MPC and also use vinyl in their DJ sets. Their approach is described as moving away from conventional DJing in favour of a more direct, live-sounding presentation.
