Freetech
Freetech is one of the aliases used by Ozzy Cetin, an Istanbul-born psytrance DJ and organiser who also performs as Mysticism and Ramizes. Born in 1984, he discovers psy-trance at 18 through artists including Kox Box, Cosmosis, Hallucinogen, Goa Gil and Astral Projection, and he continues to build a psy-trance archive.
Background and early work
While studying for a BA, he organises indoor parties and performs as Ramizes between 2004 and 2007. During this period he also helps producer friends by contributing ideas and loops for their tracks.
Festival and event activity
From 2006 onwards, he is involved with major international festivals including Ozora in Hungary, Psy-Fi in the Netherlands, Sonica in Italy, Earthcore in Australia, Free Earth in Greece and IllumiNaughty in the UK. In Turkey, he performs at and works with festival organisations including Tree of Life, Mind Manifest Project, Neon, Ayata, Freaks in Love and Soulclipse Festivals.
He also focuses on his Istanbul- and Manchester-based community, Crystal Kids, which he uses as a platform for psytrance events and related organising work. As a freelancer, he works in artist liaison and music management at Ayata Festival in Turkey, production management at Free Earth Festival in Greece, general coordination at Psy-Boutique Festival in Turkey, and UK ambassadorship for Shankra Festival in Switzerland and Tree of Life Festival in Greece.
Music style
Under his different aliases, he covers a range of psychedelic styles: as Mysticism he plays psychill, psybient and chillgressive; as Ramizes he plays progressive, dark progressive, fullon and psytrance; and as Freetech he plays twilight, forest and hitech.
He has played more than 150 gigs, including indoor events, around the world since 2004.
