Freerange DJs

Freerange DJs are a Cornish DJ and production trio made up of =AVE=, Olly G and Hi-Fly. They work in the southwest of the UK and play and make beats together under the Freerange name. The three members also have separate experience on the club circuit, with residences at club nights across a range of dance genres.

Background and activity

The group starts playing together in 2007 and performs for festival crowds of more than 3,000 people. They build a reputation for supporting major names in breakbeat, drum and bass, hip-hop and electro, and for bringing a high-energy style to their events. Their sound is described as broken beats with heavy low end, and they are associated with breakbeat and breaks.

Recognition and releases

In 2009, Freerange DJs receive the Outstanding Contribution to SW Breakbeat award at the South West Drum and Bass and Breakbeat Awards at the Eden Project in Cornwall. They are also linked with Ben and Lex / Ape Music, and they have remixes and signings connected to A-List artists. Their label association includes Punks.
