Fragz is the alias of João Fragoso, a drum and bass artist from Portugal, born in 1989 and based in Oporto. He begins playing drums in 2004 and starts producing in 2006.

Style and sound

His music draws on hardcore, punk and thrash influences, and combines melodic elements with heavy, destructive rhythms. He works across drum and bass-related styles including crossbreed, darkstep, neurofunk and technoid.

Fragz releases music on Yellow Stripe Records in Portugal, Melting Pot in Spain, Darkbox Recordings in Italy, T3k in Germany and Practical Recordz in Portugal.

Collaborations and performances

He works with Cooh, Katharsys, Gancher & Ruin, Zardonic, Freqax, Triamer, YMB, Peter Kurten, C-Netik, Dkaos, Bsa and Krustov. He also shares stages with Counterstrike, Friction, Andy C, Audio, The Sect, AMC, Raiden, Calyx, Teebee, Dub Elements, Kano, Technical Itch, Mindscape, Brainfuzz, Dose, Allied, Axiom, Maztek, BSE, Elements of Vengeance, Khanage, Amex and DJ Hidden, among others.

Recognition

Fragz wins the “Upcoming Talent” award in 2010 and receives nominations for Best DJ and Best Producer at the Backstage Forum DNB Awards in 2011.
