Floor

Floor is a Miami, United States-based doom, sludge, stoner rock and progressive metal group active from 1992 to the present. The band forms in 1992 with Steve Brooks on guitar, Anthony Vialon on bass, and Betty Monteavaro on drums. Jeff Sousa later joins as drummer in late 1993, after which Brooks and Vialon move to a two-guitar lineup with no bassist.

Early years and first recordings

During the 1990s the group issues several vinyl-only 7-inch EPs before splitting in 1996. It briefly returns in 1997 for a single show with Henry Wilson on drums, then rehearses only occasionally until 2001. Floor releases its first full-length album, the self-titled Floor, in 2002, before ending again in 2003.

Reunion and later work

The band reforms in 2009. In 2010, Brooks and Vialon agree to a reunion tour to mark the release of Below & Beyond, an 8-CD/10-LP box set covering the trio’s complete material up to that point. The renewed interest during the hiatus leads the group to record Oblation, which appears in 2014 on Season of Mist.

Floor’s line-up history includes Steve Brooks, Anthony Vialon, Betty Monteavaro, Jeff Sousa, Henry Wilson, Juan Montoya, Drew DeMaio, George Rios and Ron Sas. Brooks later forms Torche, while Wilson goes on to form Dove and House Of Lightning.
