Flight
Flight is the name used by several different artists and bands, including acts from the UK, Australia, the United States and Russia, as well as a YouTube personality and rapper from Florida. The name is associated with indie rock, jazz and world music, progressive rock, lo-fi garage rock, jazz rock and hardcore, depending on the act.
UK indie rock band
The UK version of Flight grows out of a band called The Movement and, after a number of personnel changes, settles into a line-up of David Algeo on guitar and vocals, Paul F Jones on guitars, keyboards and electronics, Terrence Cullen on drums and electronic percussion, and Bill Davies on bass guitar and words. All four members come from Liverpool, England. The band has a dark sound with gothic touches, with indie guitars and electronic elements. It releases three albums and a compilation called Collage on Desolation Records.
Other artists using the name
Flight is also the name of a progressive rock band from Stockholm, Sweden; a jazz and world music group from Bondi Beach, Sydney, made up of Emanuel Lieberfreund, Ziggy Mirza and Maurice Henler, sometimes expanded to include a vocalist and bass player on releases such as Seaforth and Bondi Sessions; and an eclectic jazz rock band from Florida led by Pat Vidas in the late 1970s. The Florida group releases three albums and combines jazz rock with symphonic influences, with Vidas contributing lead vocals and brass.
Lo-fi garage rock and hardcore uses
Another Flight is a lo-fi garage rock act from Taylor, Mississippi. There is also The Flight, a Russian modern hardcore and melodic hardcore group.
