Flight Brigade is a London alternative rock and indie rock group that forms in 2010 and remains active. The band’s lineup includes family members and childhood friends, and that close connection carries through into its live performances.

Sound and style

The group’s music combines melodic hooks with shifts between forceful, energetic passages and more restrained, reflective ones. Its arrangements use an expansive mix of orchestral elements, heavy anthemic guitars, vocal harmonies, strings and vintage synths. The result is a sound that sits between folk, indie and acoustic rock influences, with accordion also associated with the band’s broader profile.

Performances and recognition

Flight Brigade plays a high-intensity live set and appears at a range of festivals, including Glastonbury, Bestival, The Great Escape, Beautiful Days, Blissfields, Boomtown and Reeperbahn in Germany. Time Out names the band as one of its “Rising Stars”.

Radio and television play

The band receives radio support from Dan O’Connell on Radio X, Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music, and Gary Crowley, Bob Harris and Janice Long on BBC Radio 2. Its songs also appear on Made in Chelsea, Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch and E4’s Tattoo Fixers.

Recordings and releases

While touring its debut album, Flight Brigade attracts the attention of producer Chris Porter, who has worked with George Michael, Elton John and Bowie. The band records its second album at The Visconti Studio. The album Chased by Wolves follows the singles “Fury Road” and “Tinderbox”, and is released on Rebel Cinema Records, with publishing through Wixen Music.
