Findo Gask
Findo Gask are a Glasgow indie pop and synth pop group active from 2005 to 2010. The band’s early lineup develops from friendships formed at school and in youth orchestra in Fife: Gregory and Gerard know each other from St Andrew’s High School in Kirkcaldy, and Gregory and Michael play together in Fife Youth Orchestra. The group also has classical training.
Early releases and lineup changes
An early version of the band releases a split seven-inch with Errors in 2005. That recording is produced by Gavin Thomson of Flying Matchstick Men, a group that also includes Graeme Ronald, later known for Remember Remember. The band then spends around a year rehearsing in Gerard’s bedroom above the Glasgow venue Nice n Sleazy’s. In 2006, after Flying Matchstick Men split, Gavin joins Findo Gask and brings electronic equipment that changes the band’s sound and direction.
Recordings
After taking time away to write new material, the band begins issuing songs that appear on the OSCarr release Va Va Va. Its second EP, One Eight Zero, is released through Angular Recording Corporation in December 2008.
Split
The band announces its split in March 2010 and says it will finish an album that has not yet been completed. The songs named for that unfinished record include Airpusher, Curio, Doo What, Full Five, Go Faster Stripe, Meander, Pillowtalk, Va Va Va, White Glove and You Don’t Have to Play With Me If You Don’t Want To.
