Figures Of Speech

Figures of Speech is a hip hop group made up of MCs Eve and Jyant. The group performs in the Los Angeles underground hip-hop scene and appears at the Good Life Cafe in the early 1990s, a key open-mic venue for that movement. It is also featured on the Project Blowed compilation.

One member, Eve, later works under the name Ava DuVernay and directs the feature-length documentary This Is the Life (2008), which focuses on the Good Life open-mic nights.
