Fever Ray is the solo project of Swedish musician Karin Dreijer, who is from Nacka, Sweden and born in 1975. Dreijer is also known for work with The Knife and previously fronted the indie rock band Honey Is Cool.

Honey Is Cool forms in 1994, with Dreijer as lead vocalist and guitarist. In 1999, Dreijer and sibling Olof Dreijer form The Knife, an electronic duo that goes on to release a series of widely noted albums. Fever Ray then becomes Dreijer’s solo outlet after a break from group work.

Solo work as Fever Ray

Fever Ray debuts with the single “If I Had A Heart” and follows it with the self-titled album Fever Ray in 2009. The project’s second album, Plunge, appears in 2017. Fever Ray releases music on Rabid Records.

Style

The project is associated with electronic, ambient, art pop, avant-garde pop, bass house, breakbeat, breaks and club music. Dreijer’s vocals are a defining feature of the project, with a shrill, piercing delivery, a heavy Swedish accent and frequent use of pitch-shifting technology.
