Fever Fever
Fever Fever is an alternative and atmospheric rock group from Columbus, Ohio. The band forms in 2005 and later signs to Slospeak Records. Its early recording plans lead to a full-length label debut, Aftermath, recorded with Chad Howat of Paper Route, Mark Townsend of Relient K and House of Heroes, and Kyle Monroe of Golden Youth.
The group’s music is described as an indie rock sound with an experimental edge, using instruments such as harmonium and vibraphone. Its songs aim to create a cinematic atmosphere and often combine a large, emotional feel with elements that hint at ethnic and world music influences. The band also develops a live presentation built around dynamic lighting, a vintage and homey setting, and a strong stage presence, and its music gains attention in licensing.
Line-up and style
The verified membership lists Rosie Arnold as a member of the group. The name Fever Fever is also used by another act, and the group is additionally described as a three-piece featuring Rosie, Ellie and Smit, with a ferocious art-punk sound built around pounding drums, distorted guitar and sharp vocals. This points to a separate formation under the same name.
Recorded work
Aftermath is the band’s label debut and the release most clearly identified with the Columbus group. It is presented as the result of the band’s aim to make a record after forming, and as a project shaped by collaboration with several producers and musicians.
Performance and reception
Fever Fever is associated with a direct, emotionally driven approach to songwriting, with each track intended to capture a feeling or a recognisable scene. The band is also linked with BBC Introducing and SXSW appearances, and with a run of strong reviews.
