Fergie

Fergie is the stage name used by two different artists: Stacy Ann Ferguson, an American singer and actress, and Robert “Fergie” Ferguson, a Northern Irish DJ and techno producer from Larne, United Kingdom. The name is associated with pop, R&B, hip hop and dance music, as well as hardhouse and techno in the DJ’s work.

Stacy Ann Ferguson first gains wider chart success as a member of the hip hop group Black Eyed Peas. Before that, she appears in the children’s television series Kids Incorporated and is a member of the girl group Wild Orchid. She leaves Wild Orchid in 2001 and joins Black Eyed Peas the following year. She works with the group on two albums before releasing her debut solo album, The Dutchess, in 2006.

The Dutchess is commercially successful and produces three Billboard Hot 100 number one singles: “London Bridge”, “Glamorous” and “Big Girls Don’t Cry”. Fergie does not describe herself as a rapper, although she incorporates rapping into some performances. She later releases a second solo album, Double Dutchess, in 2017.

Alongside her music career, she appears in several films, including Poseidon (2006), Grindhouse (2007) and Nine (2009). She also launches fragrances, beginning with Outspoken under Avon, and later releases four more scents. In fashion, she launches the footwear line Fergie Footwear in 2009.

Robert “Fergie” Ferguson

Robert Ferguson is a Northern Irish DJ and techno producer from Larne, United Kingdom, born in 1979. He begins DJing while still very young and builds a career over more than two decades. He becomes known as one of the early major star DJs, works as a BBC Radio 1 presenter for more than four years, writes as a Mixmag columnist, owns a record label, and works as an award-winning producer and remixer.

His career includes a change of name and multiple identities. He later moves to Las Vegas in 2012 and develops a new phase of his career there. He holds residencies at Wet Republic pool party, HQ Nightclub in Atlantic City, and Hakkasan Las Vegas Nightclub. After a rise in interest in techno trance, he signs to Armada Music and releases tracks including “Alpha Centauri”, “Time” and “Muzik” on Armin van Buuren’s label Armind, a sublabel of Armada Music.

Across both careers, the name Fergie is linked with mainstream pop success, hip hop collaboration and electronic dance music.
