Fenix TX
Fenix TX, styled as Fenix*TX, is an American pop punk band from Houston, United States. The group forms in 1995 and is active from 1995 to the present. Its current members are Donnie Reyes, Damon DeLaPaz, Adam Lewis, William Salazar and Ilan Rubin.
Early years as Riverfenix
The band begins as Riverfenix in Houston, Texas in 1995. Under that name, it releases the EP G.B.O.H. and the album Riverfenix on independent record labels. The name change follows a cease and desist order from the estate of actor River Phoenix.
Major label releases
After renaming themselves Fenix TX, the band signs to MCA Records in 1999. On MCA, it releases the albums Fenix TX in 1999 and Lechuza in 2001. Together, these albums sell more than 600,000 units.
Breakup and reunion
The band breaks up in 2002 because of creative differences. After the split, bassist Adam Lewis and drummer Damon DeLaPaz work on the now defunct side project Sing the Body Electric, while vocalist/guitarist Will Salazar and guitarist Chris Lewis form Denver Harbor. In September 2005, Fenix TX announces its reunion. It then releases the live album Purple Reign in Blood and tours the United States and Japan in support of it.
