Fastway

Fastway are a British hard rock band from London, active from 1982. They are associated with hard rock, heavy metal, hair metal and rock, and are identified as a 1980s UK hard rock act.

Formation and original line-up

The band is led by veteran musicians Fast Eddie Clarke, formerly of Motörhead, and Jerry Shirley, formerly of Humble Pie. They recruit singer and harmonica player David King, also credited as Dave King, for the original line-up. At this stage, Fastway do not have a full-time bassist, and the bassist on the debut album is not credited.

Debut album

Fastway release their self-titled debut album in 1983. The record becomes successful and establishes the band’s sound: bluesy hard rock and boogie with a strong resemblance to Led Zeppelin in places. Clarke’s guitar playing on the album is broader in style than his work with Motörhead, while King’s high-pitched vocals are a central feature. Notable tracks mentioned from the album include “Easy Livin’,” “Feel Me, Touch Me (Do Anything You Want),” “Heft!,” “We Become One,” “Say What You Will,” and “Far Far From Home.”
