Fantasy

Fantasy is used by several different acts, including an English progressive rock group, a German schlager duo and a house project by Francois Louwers. One house recording associated with the name is the single I Feel High.

English progressive rock group

The English progressive rock group Fantasy evolves out of an earlier band called Chapel Hill. It works in a progressive rock style that sits between the reflective sound of Camel and the more song-based approach of Cressida. The group releases one album on Polydor, Paint A Picture, in 1973. A second album, Beyond The Beyond, is recorded the following year and is not issued until 1992, when Audio Archives restores it from obscurity. Audio Archives also releases Vivariatum, a third album assembled from a 1970 acetate of Chapel Hill recordings, 1976 demo recordings, and the B-side I Was Once Aware, taken from the band’s only single, Politely Insane, which dates from the Paint A Picture period.

Other acts using the name

Another Fantasy is an American psychedelic rock act fronted by the young female vocalist Lydia Janene Miller. It releases one album on Liberty Records in 1970.

A separate American funk and dance vocal group is assembled by producer Tony Valor in 1980. It begins as a quartet of two women and two men, and its single You’re Too Late reaches the dance charts in the early 1980s. Valor later revives the Fantasy name in the early 2000s for a new line-up of four young women, and that version issues two more albums.

Fantasy is also the name of a country group that releases one album, Steel Toe Cowboy, in 2000.

Other uses include a Japanese visual kei band written as ＦＡＮＴＡＳＹ, a German schlager duo made up of Martin Marcell and Freddy März, and an American psychedelic rock band from San Francisco active in the 1990s.
