Exit International

Exit International are a Cardiff-based trio built around two bass guitars and no lead guitar. They form out of the remains of Welsh indie and punk groups Midasuno and The Martini Henry Rifles. The band begins as an experiment intended to support the Melvins, but when that slot is removed they continue as a permanent project.

Formation and line-up

The group consists of Scott, Fudge and Adam. Their stripped-back setup is a defining feature of the band, with the absence of a six-string guitar shaping both their sound and the way they are discussed in reviews.

Style and influences

Exit International describe themselves as making a lot of noise from a limited musical palette. Their influences include Girls Against Boys, Nirvana, The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, The Pixies and The Blood Brothers. Their sound sits across rock, alternative, post-hardcore, noise rock and dance-punk.

Releases and label

The band are signed to London label Undergroove Records. Their debut release is the Sex W/ Strangers EP, which appears in June 2010.

Press and live work

Exit International receive attention in the indie press after Eli Janney of Girls Against Boys arranges for them to feature in Alternative Press in early 2010. Their live appearances include Sŵn festival 2009, a headline show for Rock Sound, and an Artrocker Club night. They also play with The Bronx, Pulled Apart By Horses, The Eighties Matchbox B-line Disaster, The Computers, Crime in Stereo, Baddies and The King Blues.
