Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo is a folk group from the United Kingdom and Australia. Formed in 2007, the group consists of Emily Barker, Anna Jenkins, Gill Sandell and Jo Silverston.
Style and instrumentation
The group works in an acoustic, country-folk style. Barker is joined by an all-female trio that provides backing harmony vocals, with Jenkins on violin, Silverston on cello and musical saw, and Sandell on accordion, piano and flute.
Recordings
The band records and releases material under Barker’s label, Everyone Sang. Its album Despite The Snow is recorded in live sessions in a 16th-century barn in Norfolk, England, and appears as a self-released album in 2008. Almanac follows in 2011, and Dear River appears in 2013.
