Eleine
Eleine is a Swedish symphonic metal band from Malmö, active since 2011. The group forms around singer Madeleine Liljestam and guitarist and songwriter Rikard Ekberg, who begins working on the project in late 2011. Eleine is also known for its female-fronted sound and for combining symphonic metal with a heavy, dramatic style.
History
In 2012, Rikard Ekberg joins the project as guitarist and later co-writes material with Liljestam. By the end of 2013, the lineup expands with drummer David Eriksson, keyboard player Sebastian Berglund and bassist Andreas Mårtensson. This formation completes the band for its early releases.
Eleine releases its first single, “Gathering Storm”, with a music video in 2014. A second single follows in 2015, before the band’s self-titled debut album appears on Cardiac Records and Universal. The album is received well by listeners and critics.
After Eleine and Cardiac Records part ways in late 2015, the band continues developing new material and its live show. In 2023, the group unveils its fourth full-length album, We Shall Remain, following Acoustic In Hell from 2022. Live guitarist Victor Jonasson joins as a permanent member, making the line-up a more settled quintet.
Live activity and style
Eleine shares stages with Darkane, Sister Sin and Raubtier, and performs at venues and events including Rock Stage Malmöfestivalen, The Tivoli and Babel. The band’s music is described as heavy symphonic metal, and its stage presentation is noted for a theatrical, striking character.
