Edwyn Collins is a Scottish musician from Edinburgh, England? I need to correct: Edinburgh, United Kingdom. He is best known as the singer and songwriter from Orange Juice, the post-punk and indie pop group he forms after starting out in the Nu-Sonics in 1976. The Nu-Sonics change their name to Orange Juice in 1979, and the group includes Collins among its members.

Orange Juice’s best-known single is “Rip it Up”, which reaches No. 8 and remains its only UK top 40 hit. The band breaks up in 1985, after which Collins continues as a solo artist.

As a solo musician, Collins is associated with alternative rock, indie pop, indie rock, pop, pop rock and rock. His best-known solo song is “A Girl Like You” from 1994. The track appears in the films Empire Records and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. He also releases “Magic Piper of Love” in 1997, and it appears on the soundtrack of Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.

Collins’s music is mainly electric guitar-led pop, and his writing and singing move between sharp satire and a more tender soul style. He is particularly associated with the satirical side of his work. In 1994, he builds his own studio and uses it to produce his third solo album, Gorgeous George.

He also works as a producer for other artists, including The Proclaimers, The Cribs and Little Barrie. In addition, he produces and stars in the Channel 4 sitcom West Heath Yard.

Collins lives in London with his long-term partner, Grace Maxwell, who manages his career. They have one son.

In 2005, he suffers a major cerebral haemorrhage and undergoes neurological rehabilitation. Home Again, released in 2007, is the first album to follow this illness; it is recorded before the hospitalisation and completed after his recovery.
