Ed James is an American guitarist and singer-songwriter associated with bubblegum pop-influenced power pop, drawing on exuberant oldies-style pop and rock such as The Monkees and The Beatles. He records as a solo artist and is also a member of Joyride.
Solo work
James issues several solo albums, including Meet Ed James! on Air Mail and Jam in 1999 and 2001, Poprocket in 2003, Big Time in 2004, and ...In The 21st Century in 2006. Poprocket is the release he is best known for, and it is noted for its immediate, feel-good quality.
Compilation and tribute appearances
He appears on a long list of indie compilation albums, including Unsound Series Volume 1: Pop!, Pop Under The Surface volumes 1 and 4, International Pop Overthrow volumes 3 and 5, Burnt Marshmallows & Teeny Bikinis, Browser Barbarians, Wizzard Brew, This Is Sparklefest, Planet of Popboomerang - A Global Pop Compilation, and This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio.
He also contributes to tribute releases dedicated to Jeremy Morris, The Beatles, George Harrison, Sweet, Toto, sparkle*jets u.k., the Bay City Rollers, the Left Banke, Klaatu, and the bubblegum pop style itself.
Guest work and other credits
James contributes guest spots on releases by Jeremy, Michael Riesenbeck, and The Saving Graces. He also appears with the band Pet The Pig! on Mothman And Other Twisted Tales and is credited on the soundtrack for Working Stiff.
